Brad Marchand will be in the Stanley Cup Final: The Bruins traded Brad Marchand to the Panthers in March after the 37-year-old had spent the entirety of his pro career with Boston prior to that. The deal has so far worked out for both parties, as the Bruins will end up with a first-round pick, and (as of last night) the Panthers are back in the Stanley Cup Final.

After Florida overcame the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 in Wednesday’s Game 5, the Panthers clinched the series 4-1. Marchand is now back on hockey’s biggest stage.

“It’s special,” he told TNT’s Jackie Redmond. “When you’ve been around for a while, you realize how few opportunities you have to be part of something like this. Just enjoying every moment, grateful for the opportunity.

“Definitely didn’t expect to be here in this jersey,” he added of playing for the Panthers, “but I’m very happy I am.”

Marchand scored a goal in Game 3 and added an assist in Game 5. It comes after he helped Florida defeat the Lightning and Maple Leafs in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

“We’re comfortable in these situations,” Marchand said in the postgame press conference. “The guys in this room have been here in many different situations and been up and down. When you’ve been through it before and have gone all the way, you see the different way momentum swings can happen throughout a game and how you can take advantage of that.”

The Panthers will face either Edmonton Oilers or Dallas Stars. Edmonton leads the series 3-1, and face the Stars in Dallas on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Trivia: Brad Marchand is first in Bruins history in career overtime goals. Who is second?

(Answer at the bottom).

Hint: He was the 25th overall pick in 2014.

Scores and schedules:

The Red Sox lost to the Brewers 6-5 on a walk-off on Wednesday, as Milwaukee completed the sweep. Boston will begin a new three-game set against the Braves in Atlanta on Friday.

The Revolution drew 1-1 on the road against D.C. United on Wednesday. New England will be on the road again this Saturday against Montreal.

More from Boston.com:

An early test: The recent story involving footage of Stefon Diggs on a party boat could offer an early test of Mike Vrabel’s new era in New England.

On this day: In 1993, Jose Canseco made his MLB pitching debut at Fenway Park as a member of the Texas Rangers during a 15-1 Red Sox blowout win. The power-hitter yielded three runs on two hits, walking three.

Unfortunately for Canseco, the decision to pitch would come with a cost. It was later revealed that he had torn a ligament in his arm, eventually requiring Tommy John surgery to repair it, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Daily highlight: Credit to both Royals second baseman Jonathan India and first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino for making great plays to get the out.
