The friendship of Tyrese Haliburton and Oshae Brissett: Though their teams are currently locked in a series struggle to try and advance to the NBA Finals, there are some connections between the Celtics and Pacers.

Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton and Boston’s Oshae Brissett have friendship that dates back to their time together with the Pacers.

“Obviously people know me and Oshae, [he’s] like one of my best friends,” Haliburton said Wednesday, according to CLNS reporter Bobby Manning.

“Usually we get dinner or something before we play, but we’re not doing that during this,” Haliburton added.

The two overlapped in Indiana for three seasons between 2021 and 2023. Brissett, 25, signed with the Celtics last July.

Since then, Haliburton has been speculating about the current matchup.

“There’s a lot of chit-chat between us the whole year because I told him we were going to play him in the Eastern Conference finals all year and he kind of laughed at me,” Haliburton explained. “So, here we are.”

Haliburton, 24, totaled 25 points in the Game 1 loss, leading the Pacers. Brissett, a role player for Boston, didn’t feature for the Celtics.

Though he was clear that his focus is on the game (and the series) when in the moment, Haliburton said he’d catch up with Brissett when it’s over.
