Revolution hire Caleb Porter: The Revolution announced on Tuesday morning that two-time MLS Cup winner Caleb Porter has been hired as the team’s new head coach.
Porter, 48, has coached two other MLS teams, both of which won MLS Cups during his reign. The first came with Portland, where he coached from 2013-2017. He won MLS Coach of the Year in his first season (2013), and a championship in 2015.
Porter also led the Columbus Crew from 2019-2021. He won another MLS Cup in 2020.
The Revolution have been without a permanent head coach since the resignation of Bruce Arena in September after an MLS investigation into “insensitive and inappropriate remarks” allegedly made by the longtime coach confirmed some of the allegations.
While Arena had previously occupied both head coach and sporting director duties, those two jobs have now been split. Curt Onalfo, previously the club’s technical director, assumed the sporting director title in November.
Trivia: What player featured for both the 2020 Columbus Crew (which Porter led to a title) and last season’s Revolution?

Hint: He was born in Accra, Ghana.

On this day: In 2010, Patriots offensive guard Dan Connolly returned a kickoff inside the five-yard line after initially trying to simply not fumble. The Patriots went on to win, 31-27.
The Packers wanted to avoid kicking it to Brandon Tate.
