Watch: Cat sprints onto MLB field, entertains crowd with ‘purr-fect’ performance
Kitty GIFs quickly graced the internet.
Friday’s game between the Dodgers and Rockies began with six no-hit innings from Los Angeles ace Trevor Bauer.
In the seventh, Colorado blasted four home runs to slice into the lead. The Dodgers ended up winning, 11-6, but not before fans at Coors Field were treated to one more “You’ve got to be kitten me” moment – this one in a more literal sense.
A stray cat ran onto the field in the eighth inning, showing off some serious speed in the process. It tiptoed along a wall behind home plate to start, meandered over to the third base dugout, then bolted onto the field and sprinted around the outfield. The cat ran for a significant amount of time before stopping near Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger to take a cat-nap.
Eventually, a Coors Field employee picked the star of the night up and brought it to safety, but not before it had wowed those in attendance with a “purr-fect” performance.
It’s unclear at this time whether it will join either team’s roster following the breakout moment.
