New Bedford’s Jared Shuster was selected by the Braves in the 1st round of the MLB Draft
Shuster graduated from Tabor Academy in 2017.
New Bedford native and Tabor Academy graduate Jared Shuster was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft at 25th overall.

Shuster, a junior at Wake Forest, was 2-1 with a 3.76 ERA through four starts in the pandemic-shortened season. He struck out 43 while walking just four through 26.1 innings.

The southpaw entered this year off a strong summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he played for the Orleans Firebirds. He was selected to the league’s All-Star game for going 4-0 with a 1.36 ERA, posting 36 strikeouts and five walks through 33 innings.
Shuster is the seventh first-round pick in Wake Forest history.
