Morning sports update: A young Yankees fan cited Tom Brady in his rant about Manny Machado

The Celtics return to action at 8 p.m. Thursday in Milwaukee against the Bucks.
A Yankees fan adamantly explains why he doesn’t want Manny Machado in New York: After news broke Tuesday that the Padres signed free agent Manny Machado to a 10-year, $300 million contract, fan reactions reverberated around social media.
None drew more attention than that of a young Yankees fan. In front of an SNY cameraman, the fan exclaimed, “Good! I don’t want Machado on the Yankees.”
Asked to explain why, the fan cited Machado’s ties to the American League East (he played the majority of his career in Baltimore with the Orioles).
“I don’t want anybody from the A.L. East. I don’t want [Xander] Bogaerts, I don’t want [Mookie] Betts, I don’t want [Josh] Donaldson. I don’t want any of those guys.”
Eventually, the fan used Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as an example of why fans on division rivals wouldn’t want even the best players at the expense of loyalty.
“It’s kind of like taking Tom Brady from the Patriots and adding him to the Dolphins,” he said. “It just doesn’t happen.”
