Video: Adrian Beltre will fight you with a broom before he lets you douse him
The talented but quirky third baseman is as good with a broom as he is with a bat.
You’re probably familiar with postgame Gatorade baths. Guerin Austin certainly is.
You’ve also probably heard that Rangers slugger (and former Red Sox) Adrian Beltre does NOT like to have his head touched. Well, as it turns out, the finicky third-baseman is also not so fond of being doused in sports drinks, despite its being a hallmark of post-game festivities across most sports.

While the traditional tactic involves sneaking up on the hero of the game, the ever-mindful Beltre abruptly ended his post-game interview when middle infield tandem Rougned Odor and Elvis Andrus approached him carrying the jugs of sports drink.
But rather than run, the 6’0″ 220-pound Beltre may have caught his attackers by surprise by turning and going on the defensive with a discarded broom. Odor nearly catches the wily veteran, but Andrus quickly turns tail and gives up when confronted by the broom-wielding Beltre.
Beltre actually appears to be having a good time in the video, unlike the many occasions where his head is being touched. You can watch the whole video here.
