Sophia Jurksztowicz is taking a temporary leave of absence from her role as studio host on NESN’s Bruins broadcast to focus on personal matters.

Jurksztowicz, who has been absent from NESN’s preseason broadcasts, explained her status on her Instagram account Tuesday, addressing a post to “my favorite nation (Bruins nation)”:

“This summer I signed a contract extension with NESN and I couldn’t be happier to continue my journey as your Bruins host,” she wrote.

“But due to personal reasons, I’m going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team. I don’t want anyone to worry, I WILL be okay, but right now I just need to take time away from work.

“I’ve received nothing but support from NESN with my circumstances and I seriously could not be more grateful to be working at NESN or more thankful for all the love from my teammates.

“It’s only preseason, but I miss being at the rink already and I’m going to miss interacting with all of you too. You’re the best fans in the world and you’re my home away from home. I can’t wait to be back. In the meantime, I’m always cheering.”

Jurksztowicz joined NESN in August 2019 from Sportsnet in Toronto, where she was a reporter, host, and producer.

Jurksztowicz also had been the social media reporter for “Hockey Night in Canada,” and had worked at theScore, Rogers Sportsnet, and CBC News Network in Canada.

In a statement, a NESN spokesperson said, “The NESN team wishes Sophia well during this time and looks forward to having her back on Bruins’ broadcasts when she is ready to return. In the interim, we ask that everyone respect Sophia’s privacy.”

Adam Pellerin will be NESN’s Bruins host in Jurksztowicz’s absence.

The Bruins open the season Oct. 8 on the road against the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
