A guide to the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship
The purse is $9 million.
With competition for the FedEx Cup in full swing, the top 100 players on the PGA Tour will gather at TPC Boston in Norton this weekend for the Dell Technologies Championship and a shot to advance to the next stage of the playoffs.
With an 18-under-par win at the Northern Trust over the weekend, Bryson DeChambeau (3,617 points) finds himself in the driver’s seat with the top spot. Dustin Johnson (2,969), Justin Thomas (2,954), Tony Finau (2,709), and Brooks Koepka (2,332) round out the top five.
Thomas, the defending FedEx Cup champion, hopes to join Tiger Woods as just the second golfer to win the FedEx Cup twice, and he would be the first to win back-to-back titles.
The top 70 in FedEx Cup points following Monday’s Labor Day finish will advance to the BMW Championship in Pennsylvania Sept. 6-9. The top 30 players there will advance to the Tour Championship in Atlanta Sept. 20-23.

A look ahead
Dell Technologies Championship’s future:
The PGA is changing the format of the FedEx Cup, cutting the championship back from four events to three and playing them all in August. The final two stops in Philadelphia and Atlanta will remain the same, but the TPC Boston stop over Labor Day weekend will no longer be a part of the FedEx Cup standings. Instead, it will merge with the New York leg and join the rotation for the Northern Trust, formerly known as the Barclays. The Northern Trust will kick off at Ridgewood Country Club in 2019, with TPC Boston rejoining the FedEx Cup rotation in 2020.
