Everything you need to know about this weekend’s PGA golf tournament in Norton
The tourney's name is now the Dell Technologies Championship
Round 2 of the PGA Tour’s playoffs will be held in the Boston area this week. The top 100 players left after the first round, which ended Sunday at Glen Oaks Club in New York, advance to the Boston event, where the top 70 will move on to the third event, the BMW Championship in Illinois.
Three players surged from outside the top 100 to qualify for this week’s event – Bubba Watson, David Lingmerth, and Harold Varner III.
The Boston tournament also has a new name. After Deutsche Bank ended its sponsorship after last year’s tournament it has ben renamed the Dell Technologies Championship.

Course rundown: Originally designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer in 2002, the par-71, 7,297 yard course has since been updated by Gil Hanse, and Jim Wagner, with help Brad Faxon in 2007 and again in 2011. TPC Boston is situated on nearly 400 acres that winds it way through natural terrain, woodlands, and wetlands. Vijay Singh (3rd round, 2006) and Mike Weir (1st round, 2008) share the 18-hole course record of 61. The 72-hole record is 262, shared by Singh (2008), Charley Hoffman (2010), and Henrik Stenson (2013). Here is a course map and a hole-by-hole guide to the course.
Unique format:The competitive rounds of the Dell are Friday through Monday instead of the usual PGA Tour format of Thursday-Sunday. This allows for a final round on the Labor Day holiday.

The future
Dell Technologies Championship’s future:
It is yet to be determined if the planned major shift in the PGA golf calendar will have any effect on the Labor Day tradition at TPC Boston. The PGA announced earlier in August that the Players Championship will be held in March and the PGA Championship will be in May starting in 2019 as part of a schedule change designed to have the playoffs over by Labor Day. Nothing is definite yet on how the rest of the PGA schedule will be constructed, but the change may put the tournament in Norton in jeopardy, according to The Associated Press.

Children 15 years and younger receive complimentary grounds admission to the championship as long as they are accompanied by a ticketed adult at all times.
Parking
All parking is at Xfinity Center. 885 S. Main St., Mansfield, Mass. 02048. A free shuttle bus runs to and from Xfinity Center and the main entrance to the daily. Passes are available at the gate or online in advance.

Autographs
During the official competitive rounds (Friday-Monday), players will not sign autographs until they have completed their rounds. The autograph area will be designated and marked on course.
