Boston athletes showed up to support each other amid Bruins, Celtics playoff runs
Here's who was spotted at Fenway Park and TD Garden this week on the athlete fan-cam.
It’s an electric time to be a Boston sports fan, and few know that better than New England’s professional athletes.
The Celtics punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals for the sixth time in eight years, and the Bruins are gearing up for a win-now Game 6 against the Panthers on Friday night. All the while, the Red Sox are continuing to defy grim expectations, posting the lowest ERA (2.79) in the league.
But when they’re not chasing down their next titles, Boston’s athletes have been showing up to support their local teams. Here’s who was spotted this week on the professional athlete fan-cam.
Derrick White
The Celtics guard had a much-deserved break Thursday night after sending the Cavaliers home in the Eastern Conference semifinals Wednesday.
The Sox dropped the final matchup of their four-game series against the Rays, falling 7-5. Luckily, White seemed to enjoy the outing, going home with his very own Triston Casas memorabilia from the first baseman’s bobblehead night at Fenway Park.

“I’m a big baseball fan and this is the best ballpark. I got my folks in town and I wanted to bring them out to a game and it worked out for us,” White told NESN’s Jahmai Webster.
Hunter Henry and Christian Gonzalez
As phase two of the Patriots’ offseason gets underway, tight end Hunter Henry and cornerback Christian Gonzalez showed their support of the Celtics during Wednesday’s Game 5. The pair had courtside seats, perfectly positioned to witness Boston’s dominant 113-98 win over Cleveland.
While they cheered from the sideline, snacked on popcorn, and bonded over their elementary school fashion, the two went back and forth cheering on Celtics’ veteran Al Horford.

“Keep shooting, Al,” Hunter cheered, admiring Horford’s impressive 22-point performance.
“ALLLLL,” Gonzalez yelled after him.
Drake Maye and Ja’Lynn Polk
Rookies Drake Maye and Ja’Lynn Polk appear to be settling in nicely to their new home in New England. The UNC quarterback and Washington wide receiver fired up Bruins fans at TD Garden Sunday night during Game 4 against the Panthers.
The duo looked like true Bostonians amongst the crowd, forgoing a suite and opting for seats alongside fans. They even sported No. 10 and No. 1 custom Bruins sweaters.
Hampus Lindholm and Jake DeBrusk
In between their own playoff games versus the Panthers, the Bruins’ Hampus Lindholm and Jake DeBrusk still made time to support their fellow TD Garden tenants.
Sitting across the court from Hunter and Gonzalez, the two celebrated the Game 5 win on Wednesday, before gearing up for their own matchup Friday.
