Charlie Baker and Ed Markey both have Virginia winning their NCAA Tournament brackets

Gov. Charlie Baker may be a moderate Republican and Sen. Markey a liberal Democrat. But their picks to win the NCAA Tournament are pretty conservative.
The two Massachusetts elected officials both have Virginia’s men’s basketball team as the last team standing in their March Madness brackets.
Markey tweeted Thursday that he would have to wait until next year to pick his alma mater Boston College to win it all, but added that he thought his 2018 bracket had a “good shot.” The Bay State senator has Virginia, the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed, beating fellow No. 1 seed Villanova in the national championship game, with Gonzaga, a No. 4 seed, and Duke, a No. 2 seed, rounding out his Final Four.
Markey also picked both the teams from neighboring Rhode Island, Providence and URI, to make it out of the first round.

Baker, who once again entered a bracket in Politico’s Playbook Pool, has Virginia beating No. 2 Purdue in the finals. Xavier and Kansas, both No. 1 seeds, are also in his Final Four. The governor’s bracket isn’t completely chalk; Baker did have No. 14 seed Wright State making it to the Sweet Sixteen. Unfortunately, the Raiders lost in a first-round blowout to Tennessee.
