Rhode Island coach reacts emotionally when brother’s team makes tournament
Focused as he was on his own team’s fortunes during Sunday’s NCAA Tournament announcements, Rhode Island men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley was also keeping a close watch on the fate of another school. And that announcement left him overcome with emotion.
Hurley, whose Rams are seeded seventh in the Midwest Region, watched intently for news about his brother’s team. Bobby Hurley, Dan’s older brother, is the coach of Arizona State. With his team seated to watch the tournament selection show, Hurley’s emphatic reaction to Arizona State’s inclusion said it all:

Hurley is in his sixth season with Rhode Island. This is his third season of more than 20 wins with the Rams, and his second tournament appearance.
Arizona State will face Syracuse in a play-in game for the 11th seed in the Midwest Region on March 14.
