Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet’s offseason is off to an eventful start.
Crochet and his wife, Rachel, announced they gave birth to their first child, Colette Spencer Crochet, in an Instagram post on Friday.
Garrett and Rachel Crochet began dating in college at the University of Tennessee before getting married in 2021. They have stayed together through Crochet’s move to Boston in 2024, as well as Rachel supporting Garrett through his Tommy John surgery in 2021.
While Colette is the Crochets’ first child, their family has a husky named Moose. With Crochet under contract with the Red Sox through 2031, the three Crochets and Moose are seemingly settled in Boston.
Crochet was a star in his first season with the Red Sox, leading the AL in both innings pitched (205.1) and strikeouts (255) on his way to being named a finalist for the Cy Young Award.
After a stellar regular season, Crochet arguably had the best performance of his career in the Red Sox’ only win over the Yankees in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. He gave up just one run in 7 2/3 innings, striking out 11 Yankees hitters.
Now, it’s onto the offseason for Crochet, who’ll add taking of his newborn daughter on top of his usual training ahead of spring training in February.
