There’s no need to scoreboard watch Monday night, Red Sox fans. Not only is it a day off for the Sox, but the entire American League will be off before resuming play on Tuesday.
For the Sox, currently holding the second wild-card spot with a record of 85-71, that will be a three-game set with the first-place Blue Jays as they play their final road series before returning to Fenway Park for a three-game series with the Tigers to conclude the season.

The Blue Jays (90-66) clinched a playoff spot on Sunday but are just two games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East with six to play. After facing the Red Sox, Toronto will wrap up with three games at Tampa Bay.
The Yankees (88-68) also won on Sunday, putting up six runs in the 10th inning for a 7-1 victory at Baltimore to maintain their hold on the top wild-card spot. They will close out the season with a six-game homestand beginning with three games against the White Sox, followed by three with Orioles.
The Guardians had their 10-game winning streak snapped with a 6-2 loss to the Twins, but they remain tied with the Astros at 84-72 for the final wild-card spot, one game behind the Red Sox.
Thanks to Detroit’s six-game losing streak, the AL Central is still in play, as the Guardians are just one game back with the Tigers (85-71) headed to Cleveland for a three-game series starting Tuesday. They will close out the season by hosting the Rangers for three games, who have dropped seven in a row and are all but out of contention for the postseason.
The Astros, who were swept at home by the Mariners to fall three games behind Seattle in the AL West, end the season with a six-game trip through California, starting with three games against the Athletics, followed by three more with the Angels.
The Mariners (87-69) will host the Rockies for three games before traveling to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers.
