Top Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony isn’t the only member of his family garnering headlines this week after his MLB debut at Fenway Park on Monday night.
After his older sister, Lia, caught the eye of many on social media during Tuesday’s game, news outlets from The New York Post and OutKick to TMZ and Men’s Journal ran stories highlighting her viral fame, which they posited overshadowed that of her younger brother.

On Thursday morning, Lia joined WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” to reflect on it all.
“Wow, I mean, it’s been surreal,” she said, after host Greg Hill asked her how many Instagram followers she’s gained. “I went from having, I think, 3,000 and now I’m at 14,000. It’s crazy.”
Actually, 15,300 as of late Thursday morning.
“I’ve gotten quite a few DMs since that night,” Lia added after a follow-up question.
Soon after, host Courtney Cox asked if Roman was “surprised about the response being all about his sister.”
“I think he definitely was shocked, we all were, it was, kind of — we all were kind of in disbelief, but, I mean, he’s got bigger things to focus on, so he’s just been, you know, focusing on his debut and everything,” Lia said. “But I think we were all just shocked by it.”
The recent Florida State graduate said this week marked her first time in Boston. From meeting David Ortiz to watching her brother live his dream, she said it’s been an “unreal experience.”
Lia said she’s living in West Palm Beach, Florida, now and has a job starting in August, but the family does make an effort to see Roman play in-person.
“We’ll make a few trips, for sure,” she said of coming back to Boston.
