Jarren Duran had a productive night at the plate for the Red Sox during Tuesday’s 10-2 win over the Blue Jays, slugging a lead-off home run and driving in two runs.
But the speedy outfielder could have potentially legged out an inside-the-park home run as well at Rogers Centre — had it not been for an absurd highlight-reel catch from Toronto’s Daulton Varsho.
In the fourth inning, Duran connected on a changeup from Dillon Tate and drove the offering out to deep center.
Varsho ran back toward the warning track to track the ball, only to trip up and stumble along the warning track.
While it looked all but inevitable that the ball was going to drop in for at least extra bases, Varsho recovered. After rolling over — and with his back to the plate — Varsho secured the ball with a backhand snag.

The catch from Varsho looked like something out of a Savannah Bananas game — with the 2024 Gold Glove Award winner playing his first game of the 2025 season on Tuesday. He opened the year on the injured list after recovering from right shoulder surgery.
Even with Varsho’s impressive grab, his play out in center wasn’t enough to slow down Boston’s bats on Tuesday. The Red Sox slugged five home runs (Duran, Alex Bregman, Kristian Campbell, Rafael Devers, Wilyer Abreu) in the victory.
