The Red Sox and right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino have agreed to a minor deal with a spring training invite, according to New York Post columnist Jon Heyman.

The 39-year-old Ottavino spent the last three seasons with the Mets. Prior to that, he spent one season with Boston in 2021.

Last season, the Northeastern alum pitched in 60 games for the Mets, collecting 70 strikeouts in 56 innings and posting a 4.34 ERA. Overall, Ottavino’s ERA with the Mets was 3.14.

During his previous stint with the Red Sox, Ottavino appeared in 69 games, notching a 4.21 ERA over 62 innings.

Ottavino was first called up to the Major League level in 2010 by the Cardinals after being drafted by St. Louis in 2006 as the 30th overall pick. He played for Northeastern between 2004 and 2006 where he eventually became the second-highest MLB draft pick in the university’s history.
