The first look at Netflix’s upcoming behind-the-scenes documentary series covering the Red Sox 2024 season is out.

In it, Boston first baseman Triston Casas goes through the difficulties of a hitting slump, including his post at-bat conversation with himself as he processes the challenge of hitting at the Major League level.

Casas, 26, plainly addresses the mental strain of being a professional baseball player.

“It’s a bad feeling when you feel like you’re the reason why you’re losing,” he notes in the voiceover commentary.

The unvarnished glimpse into the Red Sox world is potentially what the production will provide for fans, especially given that Boston’s 2024 record (81-81) was outside the playoff picture.

Netflix spent the entire previous season filming Red Sox players and coaches as they went through the day-to-day of spring training and the 162-game schedule. (The Red Sox are owned by a group led by John Henry, who also owns Boston Globe Media Partners, including Boston.com).

It’s the second Red Sox-related feature from Netflix in the last 12 months, following the expansive look-back at the 2004 team that won the World Series for the first time in 86 years. “The Comeback,” as it was titled in reference to that year’s American League Championship Series rally vs. the Yankees, debuted in Oct. 2024 to mark the 20th anniversary of the iconic postseason run.

The recent trailer was also timed for the same day that the team’s 2025 season officially began. After reporting to spring training on Tuesday, Boston’s pitchers and catches held their first workout earlier on Wednesday.
