Red Sox exercise Rob Refsnyder’s club option for 2025
The outfielder hit .283 with 11 home runs over 93 games in 2024.
Rob Refsnyder is set to return to the Red Sox roster in 2025 after the team announced on Monday that it had exercised the veteran outfielder’s club option.
The 33-year-old will earn $2.1 million in 2025.
Refsnyder hit .283 with 11 home runs and an .830 OPS in 93 games for Boston in 2024. His season came to an end in September due to a right wrist injury.
He had been contemplating retirement earlier in 2024 to spend more time with family, but is now confirmed to be back for another season.
“I love it here. I love Boston,” Refsnyder told MassLive’s Chris Cotillo in September. “I think it’s the best fan base, and I feel very fortunate to be part of this organization.”
Originally a fifth-round pick by the Yankees in 2012, Refsnyder has carved out a nine-year career in the big leagues (starting in 2015). He’s hit .253 in 471 career MLB games. He signed with Boston in 2021 following stints with the Yankees, Blue Jays, Rays, Rangers, and Twins.
