Red Sox slugger Triston Casas is expected to be activated from the injured list on Friday, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.

Casas has been out since April 21 with torn cartilage in his rib cage. He has spent the last few weeks on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester.

He hit .270 during 10 rehab games with seven extra-base hits, per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe.

The 24-year-old first-baseman is hitting .244 with a .344 on-base percentage and an .857 OPS this season to go with 6 home runs and 10 RBI in 22 games.

Last season, he hit 24 home runs and totaled 65 RBIs while hitting .263.

Speier asked Casas on Tuesday what it would take for him to be convinced that he was ready before his rehab stint was scheduled to conclude on Sunday.

“Ideally, no pain,” Casas told Speier. “That’s what I’ve been waiting for — to not have pain. I haven’t played at [the major league] level with this amount of discomfort. That’s fine, and if it’s something that I’m going to have to play with for the rest of this year, that’s fine, too.

The Red Sox, who have lost six of their last eight games, will take on the Orioles in Baltimore Friday night.
