MLB.com reveals top 100 list, and only two Red Sox players make the cut
Rafael Devers (No. 32) and Triston Casas (No. 97) are the only Red Sox players to be featured on the annual list.
Spring training is well underway, bringing an air of excitement to baseball fans as opening day rapidly approaches.
Each season, MLB.com releases the Top 100 Players Right Now list. Starting at 100 and working their way down to No. 1, the league’s website announced the full list Wednesday.
This year, the Red Sox had two players to make the list. If reading that made your blood pressure rise, just remember that it’s still one more player than last year.
32. Rafael Devers, 3B (2023 rank: 19)

Devers, 27, has made himself the Red Sox’ leader in more ways than one over his seven seasons on the team. On the field last season he boasted a .271 batting average, 33 home runs, 100 RBI, and .851 OPS. The two-time Silver Slugger and All-Star recently made waves off the field, calling out Boston’s disappointing offseason moves.
“Everybody knows what we need. You know what we need. They know what we need. There’s some things I can’t say out loud. Everybody that knows the organization and knows the game knows what we need,” Devers said Tuesday.
97. Triston Casas, 1B (2023 rank: no rank)

Casas makes his MLB Top 100 Right Now list debut ahead of his third season with the Red Sox. Last season, Casas batted .263 with 24 home runs, 65 RBIs, an .856 OPS. The 24-year-old has solidified himself as a cornerstone in the Red Sox lineup, and with defensive improvement (he finished the season with a minus-10 outs above average, according to Statcast) could prove to be even more help to the team this season.
The Red Sox kick off the 2023 regular season on March 28 in Seattle against the Mariners.
