Red Sox get their first win of the season with 11-2 thumping of the Rays
After dropping their first three games of the season, the Red Sox have rebounded with back-to-back wins against the Tampa Bay Rays.
On Tuesday, J.D. Martinez helped Boston pull out a wild 12-inning victory with a walk-off double.
With runners on second and third and two out in the bottom of the 12th, Martinez ripped a line drive to right field that seemed to catch Randy Arozarena flat-footed. Arozarena leaped to try and salvage the game, but the ball went over his head and off the wall. Both Red Sox runners scored as Arozarena stayed down, clearly aware that the game was over.
Here’s a look at the walk-off hit.

Martinez has had an excellent start to the season — he is hitting .476 after Tuesday’s action with nine RBIs and a pair of home runs.
“I feel like I’m right there,” he told Boston.com’s Khari Thompson on Tuesday. “All of a sudden, I’m a couple of adjustments away, and I’m feeling my old way again.”
The Red Sox won’t have much time to celebrate Martinez’s hit: They take on the Rays again on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m.
