Mass. reports 1,253,133 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19
For months, Fenway Park served as one of Massachusetts’ first COVID-19 mass vaccination sites.
On Sunday, the home of the Boston Red Sox vaccinated its final recipient — Frannie Chan. As she left the site, she was bid farewell by staff who cheered and applauded.
Chan was the 56,228th person vaccinated at Fenway.

The Red Sox open their season on Wednesday at home. Initially, Fenway was expected to remain a vaccination site into the season, but logistic challenges forced city officials to switch the site to the Hynes Convention Center in Back Bay.
“To have ballplayers in the park at the same time you have people in the park for different purposes we just thought was a little more complicated than we thought was appropriate for this, and the Hynes is available and it’s not that far away,” Governor Charlie Baker said earlier this month.
Last week, Baker announced that the Hynes location, which has been open since mid-March, will partner with FEMA as a mass vaccination site. It is expected to vaccine up to 7,000 people per day. It joins Newark, NJ and Norfolk, VA as mass vaccination sites partnered with FEMA.
