Jerry Remy gave the Fenway Park crowd an encouraging update on his health
'I'm kicking cancer's ass.'
Longtime NESN Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy wasn’t going to let his recent cancer diagnosis keep him from the team’s 2018 World Series parade.

Remy spoke to the crowd inside Fenway Park Wednesday morning before the Sox took to their duck boats, calling the 2018 team, “the greatest team in Red Sox history.”
Fellow NESN broadcaster Tom Caron, who was emceeing the festivities, asked his colleague, “Everybody wants to know, how are you feeling?”
Remy’s response: “I’m kicking cancer’s ass.”
In August, Remy shared his latest cancer diagnosis with the public. The 65-year-old was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008 and has had multiple relapses. In September, after another round of treatment, Remy stressed he does not plan to retire from calling Sox games on NESN, but said he likely will no longer travel with the team. Remy made an appearance in the booth this fall but has not regularly been calling games.
“Cancer had no chance,” Caron said during Wednesday’s ceremony. “I never doubted it.”
