Steve Pearce’s Wikipedia page received a humorous edit during Game 5

Two slightly exaggerated claims.

Well traveled first baseman Steve Pearce was named World Series MVP on Sunday night, after the Red Sox won the 2018 World Series over the Dodgers in five games.

Pearce, who had a .500 on-base percentage in the series, and hit three home runs (including two in the clinching Game 5), completed what was already a remarkable postseason with a fairytale finish.

A few joking editors at Wikipedia commemorated Pearce’s heroics by adding two (slightly) exaggerated claims to his page even before the title had been won:

Pearce may not actually be Mayor of Los Angeles, or own the Dodgers, but his World Series play indicated otherwise. Should Pearce want to actually attain the role of LA mayor, he’ll have to wait until 2021.
