Larry Bird and Magic Johnson renewed their rivalry before Game 5 of the World Series
"Well, well. We meet again Mr. Bird."
Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird renewed his rivalry with Los Angeles Lakers superstar Magic Johnson before Game 5 of the World Series in a video that aired on the big screen at Dodger Stadium.
“Well, well. We meet again Mr. Bird,” Johnson said, as Queen’s You’re My Best Friend played. “How you been?”
“I’m great Mr. Dodger,” Bird replied. “Nice shirt. Just looking forward to Game 5.”
Johnson, a part owner of the Dodgers, asked the green-and-white “basketball guy” what he knew about baseball. Bird responded that baseball and basketball are the same game, noting both sports are played with round balls, on hardwood or using hard wood, and require one team to come out on top.

The opponents, with eight NBA titles between them, reminisced about some of their battles ahead of the potential series decider between the Red Sox and Dodgers. Then they wished each other luck, with some strings attached.
“I love you Larry,” Johnson said. “I wish you good luck, and you know I really mean it. Even though I don’t.”
“Love you too Magic, but you’re going to need a lot of luck — especially when you’re down 3-1,” Bird countered.
Then the Celtics great grabbed a Red Sox hat.
“You know I’m going to need this to keep the light out of my eyes, ’cause that trophy is shiny bright.”
