Alex Cora announces David Price will start Game 5
He said Chris Sale will be available out of the bullpen.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced at the end of his press conference early Sunday morning that David Price will start Game 5 of the World Series instead of Chris Sale. He said Sale will be available out of the bullpen.
Cora, speaking to reporters after the Red Sox rallied to stun the Dodgers, 9-6, in Game 4 of the World Series, said he likes Price at Dodger Stadium. He added that Sale is fine, but he’s going with Price to start.
Price starts tomorrow. Cora just dropped that bomb. Sale is fine, he said. They like Price in this park.

It appeared at first as though Cora might have been joking, much like Chris Sale was about his non-existent belly-button ring, but there was no tomfoolery this time. Cora tried to leave the room, but reporters stopped him in his tracks. He clarified that he’s making the move as a choice, not out of necessity.
He said Sale is lined up to start Game 6, if necessary.
Cora says it’s about starting Price in this park and it’s good matchup. Seems sketchy… but Cora says Sale is totally fine and will be in the bullpen.

“Chris is good, but it’s something we talked about before the game,” Cora told reporters. “We feel like this is a good spot for David, in a National League park to start a game. Obviously he’s been throwing the ball well. It’s not that we’re playing with the lead, but we feel that for the team, for where we’re at pitching-wise it’s good to go with David.”
