In MLB commissioner Rob Manfred’s eyes, this World Series matchup between the Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers should be drawing a massive audience.

Manfred is reportedly frustrated and bewildered that – despite featuring two popular teams from two major markets  – the series has the lowest ratings since the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants met in 2014.

Former Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis offered some insight into why this could be the case. Youkilis said 8 p.m. EST games might be alienating the younger generation from staying up and loving baseball.

He added that commercial breaks are too lengthy, noting that players and umpires are ready to go, but held up by TV production crews.

Game 3 would have been rather long regardless, but Youkilis believes World Series games could generally end earlier.
