Google briefly declared the Red Sox as 2018 World Series champions
Game 3 is tonight.
Game 3 of the World Series is Friday night at Dodger Stadium, but, according to Google, the series has already been decided.
Although the Red Sox only hold a 2-0 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers, a search for “2018 World Series champions” Friday afternoon produced some auspicious results: the Boston Red Sox.
Our error. Even Mookie Betts and Justin Turner don’t bat 1.000. It’s fixed and we’re ready to play ball. ⚾

Google acknowledged the error on Twitter, joking that “even [Red Sox right fielder] Mookie Betts and [Dodgers third baseman] Justin Turner don’t bat 1.000.”
“Facts in the Google Knowledge Graph are automatically generated based on our understanding of content on the web, and sometimes our systems don’t work as intended and errors can occur,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement. “When made aware, we work to fix them quickly, as we did in this case.”
Similar glitches with the search engine have occurred in the past. After the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, quarterback Nick Foles — not Robert Kraft — was listed as the owner of the New England franchise.
