Hanley Ramirez isn’t in the World Series with the Red Sox, but there was baseball news about him on Friday anyway.

According to baseball reporter Jon Heyman, Ramirez – who played in Boston in multiple stints – is working out in the Dominican Republic, and remains intent on a comeback in 2019:

The 34-year-old slugger played 44 games with the Red Sox in 2018, hitting .254 with six home runs.

However, he was cut by Boston in late May to give the Red Sox lineup more flexibility.

In June, Ramirez’s name came up in a report about a local drug investigation, but it was later revealed that a friend had tried to use the baseball player’s name to police to try and get out of trouble.

When the Red Sox won the division title in September, Ramirez tweeted his congratulations to his old teammates.
