This 102-year-old fan was at Fenway Park to cheer on the Red Sox in Game 2

Mary Latowski was born in 1916, which happens to be the last time the Red Sox and Dodgers met in the World Series.

The last time the Red Sox and Dodgers met in the World Series, Mary Latowski was less than a year old.

Now, 102 years later, she was there to see them face off in person.

Latowski, who lives in Coventry, Rhode Island, and is a diehard Red Sox fan, attended her fourth World Series game Wednesday night. She went to games in 2004, 2007, 2013, and now 2018, according to The Boston Globe.

This was a meaningful milestone, after she reportedly spent the last three weeks in the hospital undergoing rehab following a stroke. Latowski was discharged Tuesday, and neither her health nor the cold weather could keep from Fenway Park on this night.

According to The Boston Globe, this was the first time Latowski got the chance to sit behind home plate. Three generations of her family joined her, and together they watched the Red Sox dispatch the Dodgers, 4-2.

Latowski’s daughter, Linda Masiello, 72, told The Globe that her mother drove until she was 101. Masiello praised her encyclopedic knowledge of Red Sox history, also sharing her list of favorite players (Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice, and now Mookie Betts).

“My mom’s been a Red Sox fan since she was 12 years old,” Masiello said. “She’d come home to school and listen to games on the radio at home. She loved the Red Sox.”

Reporter Ken Rosenthal, in a segment on Fox, noted that Latowski was particularly eager to watch Betts deliver on the grandest stage. Betts, who had three hits in total on the night, doubled shortly after the segment aired.

Latowski – who makes sure people know she’s 102 and a half, not just 102 – was relieved she was able to make it to Game 2, and she had one small request beforehand.

“I can’t wait to get there,” she said. “I just hope they win.”

The Red Sox delivered.
