Pedro Martinez’s predicted David Price’s Game 5 success. Here’s his postgame reaction.
"David Price proved that he is a man to be trusted."
A strong performance from Red Sox starter David Price set the tone in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, helping to launch Boston back into the World Series. Few baseball pundits gave Price much of a chance against the Astros.
Pedro Martinez, on the other hand, had Price’s back. In a pregame tweet, the former Red Sox pitcher — now an analyst for TBS’ playoff coverage — predicted Boston would win the pennant behind Price.
I believe the @RedSox are going to go all the way. David Price it’s ready and the guys will have his back if needed.

What followed was a shock to many baseball experts (and probably a few Red Sox fans as well). Price went toe-to-toe with Houston ace Justin Verlander, and won.
Through six shutout innings, Price yielded just three hits, no walks, and struck out nine. In the end, he achieved something that had proved elusive in his first 11 career postseason starts: a win.
“He was more than just brilliant,” Martinez concluded of Price on TBS following Boston’s pennant-clinching win.
In the aftermath, Martinez hailed Price, especially in the circumstances of an ailing Chris Sale.
