"I just went head over heels in my chair."
The tension at the end of Game 4 of the American League Championship Series had Red Sox fans on the edge of their seats. Yet Andrew Benintendi’s game-saving catch actually sent a Red Sox broadcaster one step further, launching him completely out of his chair.
Joe Castiglione, the longtime Red Sox radio broadcaster on WEEI, stuck the landing on his live call of the final out despite falling from his seat in the exciting aftermath of Benintendi’s diving play to preserve an 8-6 Boston win.

Commotion could be heard in the background of the radio broadcast as Castiglione called Benintendi’s catch. And after his voice appeared to briefly stray from the microphone, the 71-year-old – who quickly recovered – added, “as I just went head over heels in my chair!”
Without missing a beat, Castiglione launched back into the circumstances of the latest Red Sox ALCS win, as Boston took a 3-1 series lead.
