The Red Sox clinched the American League East for the third time in three years on Thursday night by winning in New York against the Yankees, 11-6.

Here’s a look at a few stories:

Hanley Ramirez tweets congratulations at his former teammates: After being released by the Red Sox in June, Hanley Ramirez remains a free agent. Yet the 34-year-old tweeted – his first since July – when his old team clinched its third division title in a row.

Ramirez helped the Red Sox win the two preceding A.L. East division titles, hitting a combined 53 home runs in 2016 and 2017.

Cora gave a shoutout to the account before Boston’s division-clinching win in New York.

“I saw that same tweet last night,” said Cora. “My man, Red Sox Stats. That guy is amazing.”

The Browns won a game: For the first time since 2016, the Cleveland Browns managed to win. Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Cleveland sent in the 2018 draft’s first overall pick, Baker Mayfield, to make his debut at quarterback. Daily highlight: With two on and two out in the eighth inning on Thursday, Mookie Betts made the lead comfortable for the Red Sox. His three-run home run turned an 8-6 advantage into an 11-6 margin, which is how the game finished.
