The Red Sox clinched the American League East for the third time in three years on Thursday night by winning in New York against the Yankees, 11-6.
Here’s a look at a few stories:
Hanley Ramirez tweets congratulations at his former teammates: After being released by the Red Sox in June, Hanley Ramirez remains a free agent. Yet the 34-year-old tweeted – his first since July – when his old team clinched its third division title in a row.

Alex Cora agreed with Red Sox Stats Twitter account
: After seeing Cora mention the Red Sox needed to be more aggressive at the plate, Red Sox Stats tweeted out:
Cora just mentioned wanting to get back to being aggressive with pitches over the plate. I looked that up earlier and the Sox were 8th most aggressive over the heart of the plate in April and May, 10th in June and July, and are 23rd in August and September.

Cora gave a shoutout to the account before Boston’s division-clinching win in New York.
“I saw that same tweet last night,” said Cora. “My man, Red Sox Stats. That guy is amazing.”
The Browns won a game: For the first time since 2016, the Cleveland Browns managed to win. Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Cleveland sent in the 2018 draft’s first overall pick, Baker Mayfield, to make his debut at quarterback. He helped guide the Browns to a 21-17 win, which included a touchdown catch:

Bill Belichick featured in Lawrence Taylor documentary: The Patriots coach was once a defensive coordinator for the Giants under Bill Parcells. In that time, Belichick coached Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, the subject of a new “Football Life” on NFL Network.
Lawrence Taylor took home the 1986-87 MVP trophy. But all he ever cared about was winning.
