Red Sox put Chris Sale back on the disabled list
He has a 12-4 record and 1.97 ERA in 23 starts this season.
The Red Sox placed lefthanded pitcher Chris Sale on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday, the second time this month he has been on the DL.
The Red Sox said Sale has “mild left shoulder inflammation,’’ the same reason given when he went on the DL on Aug. 1. He returned on Aug. 12 and pitched five innings, striking out 12, in a victory over the Orioles.
The #RedSox today placed LHP Chris Sale on the 10-day disabled list with mild left shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Wednesday, August 15. To fill Sale’s spot on the 25-man roster, the club recalled RHP Brandon Workman from Triple-A Pawtucket.
