Dustin Pedroia has knee surgery, expected to be out seven months
The Red Sox announced on Wednesday that Dustin Pedroia successfully underwent a cartilage restoration procedure to repair his left knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. Riley Williams III at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

The team announced that Pedroia’s anticipated return will be in approximately seven months. The Boston Globe’s Pete Abraham estimates that time frame equates to 50-plus games.
With the early start ti the season, Pedroia would miss 50+ games if he turns in that time frame.
