After Wednesday’s departure of John Farrell, the search for a new Red Sox manager has begun. A couple names have been kicked around as a potential replacement, but Dave Dombrowski gave no indication of which way the club was leaningĀ in a press conference at Fenway Park.

Former Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis shared his thoughts on who he’d like to see interview for the job. The two-time World Series champion tweeted shortly after the news broke: “Hoping Demarlo Hale and [Alex Cora] getĀ an interview to be Red Sox manager.”

Hale is currently the bench coach of the Toronto Blue Jays but has a number of ties to Boston. The 56-year-old had a brief minor league stint as an infielder for the organization’s farm system in the 80’s. After his playing career, Hale assumed a number of other roles within various organizations, including the Red Sox. He worked as both a third base coach and the team’s bench coach under Terry Francona.

Cora is currently the bench coach of the Houston Astros but also has a previous connection to the city. Cora played four seasons with the Red Sox and was a member of the team’s 2007 World Series championship squad. The 41-year-old just completed his second season in Houston.
