Casey Affleck calls throwing out the first pitch at Fenway a ‘bigger honor’ than winning an Oscar
As part of The Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, actor Casey Affleck threw out the first pitch for the Red Sox-Cardinals game at Fenway Park on Tuesday.

The Cambridge native, who won an Academy Award for the his performance in Manchester by the Sea, told NBC Boston that he regarded his experience on the mound higher than his night at the Oscars.
“I got pretty lucky last year, did a good movie, and had a bunch of accolades, but this is definitely a much bigger honor,” Affleck said. “Throwing out the first pitch at the Red Sox game is a big deal.”
The 42-year-old had previously toured the the Park in October 2014. He shared with NBC Boston that he often returns to the area with his children during the summer.
“When I was a kid, we’d try to leave Boston and go out to the Cape or somewhere not as hot and sticky, but my kids think coming to Boston is the best vacation in the world,” he said.
