Christian Vazquez will do most of catching work for Red Sox
The Red Sox still see catching as a two-man job. But Christian Vazquez will be getting most of the work.
Vazquez was back in the lineup on Sunday night when the Sox played the Chicago Cubs at Fenway Park. It was his third start in a row, Vazquez having displaced Sandy Leon as the primary starter.
But manager John Farrell intends to have Leon catch games started by Rick Porcello and Chris Sale .
“There’s a lot of rapport between Sandy and Rick and Chris both,” Farrell said. “But [Vazquez] he’s doing an outstanding job on both sides of the ball.”
