David Price continues to make progress in his recovery, the Celtics are in sole possession of first place, and the Bruins are set to open the playoffs Wednesday at Ottawa.

David Price ‘feels really good’ after brief bullpen session: David Price took an important step on his way back to the rotation on Monday, throwing 20 pitches in the bullpen at Comerica Park. It was the first time since Feb. 29 that Price pitched off a mound. He had swelling in his elbow the next day and started the season on the disabled list. (Boston Globe)

Celtics in sole possession of No. 1 seed in East: If the Celtics defeat the Bucks in the regular-season finale on Wednesday, they will clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference. If Boston loses to Milwaukee, it would need the Raptors to defeat the Cavaliers. (Boston Globe)

Super Bowl loss still stings for QB: Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan’s recovery from the team’s historic collapse in the Super Bowl is moving along. Instead of dealing with reality at a later date, the NFL’s reigning MVP subjected himself to the torture immediately. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

The Bruins are lucky they avoided the Capitals in the first round: It could very well mean four more weeks of hockey in Boston, which sure beats four more games. (Boston.com)

Here’s the schedule for the Bruins’ first-round playoff series against the Senators: The Bruins finished the regular season as the third-place team in the Atlantic Division, earning a matchup with the Ottawa Senators. The series kicks off Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Ottawa. (Boston.com)

Sale, Verlander duel before Castellanos lifts Tigers over Red Sox: Chris Sale pitched a little longer than Justin Verlander in a matchup of ace pitchers, and it might’ve cost the Boston Red Sox a chance to split their series with the Detroit Tigers. (Boston.com)

It’s too early to make a call on Red Sox’ bullpen: Welcome to the smallest of sample sizes and the strangest time of the year in which to attempt meaningful assessments of the state of a team – particularly its most volatile component, the bullpen. (Boston Globe)

New England Patriots reportedly work out QB with traits similar to Jimmy Garoppolo: According to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle, the Patriots have worked out former Pitt quarterback Nathan Peterman. Interestingly, Peterman’s pre-draft scouting reports read an awful lot like the assessments on Jimmy Garoppolo in 2014. (MassLive)
