Boston Red Sox

If you could watch only one, would it be Chris Sale’s first start or Celtics-Cavs?

Debate the answer with Chad Finn and Boston sports fans at The Sports Q.

Welcome to Boston.com’s Sports Q, our daily conversation, initiated by you and moderated by Chad Finn, about a compelling topic in Boston sports. Here’s how it works: You submit questions to Chad through TwitterFacebook, email, his

Friday chat, and any other outlet you prefer. He’ll pick one each day (except for Saturday) to answer, then we’ll take the discussion to the comments. Chad will stop by several times per day to navigate. But you drive the conversation.

Not sure why this came to mind, but here’s my question. You can only watch one game tonight. No flipping back and forth. You’re locked in to one channel for the whole night. And you’re banned from watching the other one on your computer, or even following along. You don’t get to find out the outcome until the morning. What do you watch? Celtics-Cavs, or Chris Sale’s first start with the Red Sox? – Frank H.

Wow, lots of rules there, Frank. Do I have to watch it on a black-and-white TV with rabbit ears too?

To me, it’s a no-brainer. Celts-Cavs. LeBron may not be the guy to ask about regular-season games – and he’s right, that smug and wholly correct jerk – but this one matters around here.

It’s a genuine feat to finish with the first seed in the East no matter what happens in the postseason. It’s a confirmation of Danny Ainge’s no-need-to-blow-it-up accelerated rebuild. It’s another step in the process toward become genuine championship contenders.

Plus, you know LeBron – and the Cavs – care about this a hell of a lot more than they’re letting on. It should be a hell of a game, one with something real and tangible possibly at stake.

I wouldn’t want to miss Sale’s first start with the Sox. That’s going to be fun, especially since he’s just about the last guy you’d want to face in cold weather. But it’s just the beginning. I can’t miss this Celtics game. This one really matters.

How about you? One TV, one channel, one game. Which do you pick? Sale, or C’s? I’ll see you in the comments.
