Clay Buchholz has no regrets being traded by the Red Sox
“The bad times outweighed the good."
CLEARWATER, Fla. — When the Philadelphia Phillies finished up with batting practice on Sunday morning, Clay Buchholz trotted over to the visitors’ dugout.
As the Red Sox players emerged from the clubhouse and spotted their former teammate, they wrapped him up with hugs. Craig Kimbrel was first, then Blake Swihart and Robbie Ross Jr. The receiving line got a few players deep.
Buchholz was especially pleased to see manager John Farrell, long his most staunch defender in Boston.
But the righthander has no regrets about his new uniform and bright red cap. Buchholz was almost relieved when the Red Sox dealt him to the Phillies on Dec. 20. He had come to expect a trade would end his tenure in Boston; it was just a matter of when it came down.
