FORT MYERS, Fla. — Jalen Beeks is a 23-year-old lefthander who finished last season with Double A Portland. The Red Sox picked him up in the 12th round of the 2014 draft.

Beeks has been a starter in the minors, going 18-15 with a 4.03 earned run average, but pitched out of the bullpen in the Arizona Fall League. Only those fans with a keen interest in prospects would know much about him.
