The Celtics were again thwarted by one of the league’s worst, and Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady talked injuries.

Source: Red Sox among most aggressive in pursuit of Greg Holland: Dave Dombrowski loved acquiring expensive closers with the Tigers, to mixed results, and continued that tradition in his first offseason running the Red Sox when he sent several well-regarded prospects to the Padres for Craig Kimbrel. While conventional wisdom would have suggested Dombrowski would target someone like Aroldis Chapman, or Kenley Jansen, he seems focused on another. (WEEI)

Conflicting reports on the extent of Rob Gronkowski’s injury:

Tom Brady has injury to quad, not knee, but will be ready for Sunday thanks to ‘good buddy Alex [Guerrero]: On the other hand, Tom Brady left no uncertainty regarding the extent of his own injury, downplaying it and praising his friend and trainer Alex Guerrero’s “good treatment.” Brady took a hit from Kam Chancellor that may or may not have been malicious in intent, that initially appeared to strike the quarterback dangerously in the knees, but apparently just missed. Marcus Smart trolls Solomon Hill after referee wipes out incredible dunk: Solomon Hill came very close to embarrassing Marcus Smart with a vicious dunk in last night’s Celtics loss, but instead the guard set his feet and allowed himself to be knocked to the floor, drawing a charge. The ever-antagonizing Smart knew he had robbed Hill of a highlight, and made no attempt to hide his amusement over the play, sticking out his tongue and running his hand through his hair. (MassLive)

Pats defend New England crowd after Pete Carroll’s jab: After Pete Carroll took a dig at the New England fanbase by saying they weren’t as rowdy and raucous as the “12th man” in Seattle, Patriots players came to the defense of the crowd. “I think they brought a lot of positive energy (Sunday) night,” Matthew Slater said. “So I would have to say I appreciate what our fans did for us. I think they provided a good environment (Sunday) night.” (NESN)
