The Bruins took a tough loss to the Canadiens Tuesday night, but Mookie Betts won a Gold Glove for his excellent play in right field.

Edwin Encarnacion’s agent believes client should get five years: Red Sox fans seem sold on Edwin Encarnacion as the team’s designated hitter next season, and according to Encarnacion’s agent, the slugger sees the fit too. “He can play like [Ortiz],” Paul Kinzer said. “He loves Boston… that’s always one of his favorite road games.” Kinzer was also sure to point out that Encarnacion would be more of a silent leader than the outspoken Ortiz. Julien: Loss to Canadiens ‘disappointing in a way but encouraging in another’: Claude Julien had to be disappointed his team lost last night after tying the game on a David Pastrnak power play goal, but was encouraged by the performance nonetheless. “It was disappointing in a way, but encouraging in another that we played so well on a back-to-back game in this kind of situation,” he said. Here’s why the Red Sox might not sign Edwin Encarnacion: With David Ortiz retiring, the best offense in the league seems hard-pressed to find a replacement. But that may not be popular option Edwin Encarnacion, despite his agent’s angling alluded to above. Dave Dombrowski said that given the impending arrival of young players, the team may seek a short term solution. (NESN)

Isaiah Thomas on KG Praise: ‘I’m the 5’9″ Kevin Garnett’: Last week, Kevin Garnett said that Isaiah Thomas “has so much heart and plays so big,” among other praise, and Thomas responded to his comments last night. Thomas said he tried to be like Garnett, despite the obvious disparity in size and play style. “That’s who I want to be,” he said. (ESPN Boston)

When it comes to replacing Jamie Collins, Patriots don’t lack options: With the first game without Jamie Collins just ahead, the Patriots will be spending this week of practice figuring out how to replace him. Fortunately, after a number of moves during the off-season and during the season, the team will have lots of players who can step up, especially rookie Elandon Roberts. (Providence Journal)

Rob Gronkowski dons Patriots pajamas to visit sick kids: Rob Gronkowski gets more credit for his partying and x-rated antics than his smart spending, and the goofy tight-end apparently has a soft spot for kids too. Gronkowski spent his free time yesterday visiting children in a hospital, signing autographs, posing for selfies and handing out souvenirs. But to really make his audience giggle, Gronkowski also put on some Patriots pajamas for his field trip. (Boston.com)
