Here’s what it looked like in empty, rain-soaked Fenway Park on Sunday
A steady downpour all day in Boston left MLB officials with no choice but to postpone.
A torrential downpour proved enough to overwhelm officials and grounds crew Sunday, as Game 3 of the ALDS between the Red Sox and Indians was postponed hours ahead of start time. The deluge that inundated the infield before noon forced Clay Buchholz to wait another day before trying to salvage the series and extend the career of David Ortiz at least one more game.
Of note is that the rain may end up being a boon for Boston, as John Farrell announced that Rick Porcello will pitch in Game 4 if necessary. Eduardo Rodriguez looked to be a solid candidate to start, but no pitcher has seen more success at Fenway this year than Porcello.
