You know you’ve made it when the president of your country of birth makes an international trip to attend your final regular season baseball game.

You know you’re David Ortiz when that president, Danilo Medina, of the Dominican Republic, throws you the ceremonial first pitch—and then you take a selfie together.

That all happened Sunday during the pregame ceremony for the retiring Red Sox slugger. Ortiz, who was born in the Dominican Republic and lived there through high school, played catcher for Medina’s first pitch, before posing for photos with the president.

(For those counting, that makes two presidents with whom Ortiz has taken a selfie.)

In honor of Ortiz, the Dominican national anthem was sung by a local Berklee College of Music student, in addition to the pregame American and Canadian anthems. During the anthem, the Dominican flag was rolled out over the Green Monster.
