New Balance designed some special cleats for David Ortiz’s final games
Talk about going out in style.
After a 20-year major league career, David Ortiz will be hanging up his cleats for good at the end of 2016. Thanks to New Balance, those cleats will be pretty stylish. The Boston-based footwear manufacturer designed five different cleats for the Red Sox slugger’s final games, one inspired by each of the team’s four AL East rivals, and one pair of “Walk Off” cleats for his final game.

The company is also selling a limited number of sneakers that feature similar color schemes. Right now, the shoes inspired by the Baltimore and Tampa Bay Rays are available, while the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees shoes will become available when the Red Sox begin their final 2016 series against each team.
For those concerned about wearing shoes with Yankees pinstripes on them, never fear: New Balance modeled the New York cleats after a yellow NYC taxicab.
