ICYMI: This may be the most ridiculous Steven Wright knuckleball yet
Jason Varitek once said: "You know, catching a knuckleball, it's like trying to catch a fly with a chopstick."
In his first start since being activated from the disabled list Friday night, Steven Wright got knocked around by a red-hot Royals team.
But while he wasn’t at his best in the first inning, when he allowed home runs to both Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon, Wright did find his feel for the knuckleball.

Watch as the fluttering pitch fools not only a baffled Lorenzo Cain, but also the catcher who called for the pitch Sandy Leon. Leon knows where Wright is throwing the pitch, and which pitch he is throwing, but that is of no use to him as the knuckle ball darts out horizontally before whipping back in the opposite direction.
Unfortunately the home plate umpire either bought into Cain’s jumping out of the box or didn’t believe the pitch broke back over the plate in time, and called the pitch ball four, granting Cain a walk. Tough luck for Wright to have wasted such a beautiful pitch.
